Project Accounting Supervisor

We are looking for a Project Accounting Supervisor to join our Accounting team. Reporting to the Controller, this role is responsible for oversight of full-cycle accounting for the land development division, and for reporting on mid-rise projects as required.
This role is based out of our head office, with the requirement to be in-office.
What are you responsible for?
- Oversight of job costing, accounts payable process and expense allocations
- Analyzing budgets to identify areas of concern, collaborating with Project Managers as required
- Providing direction to staff ensuring timely payments while monitoring cash flow
- Preparing monthly internal project reporting and analysis for the Controller and banks where required
- Reviewing aged payables and hold backs
- Filing HST returns at various deadlines
- Creation and setup of new companies and projects within Sage 300 CRE
- Preparing of year-ends for external accountants
- Assisting the homebuilding division with some quarterly and year-end activities
- Preparing of journal entries for acquisitions of land, recording within the system, and acquisition and disposal of capital assets
- Assisting in development of policies and procedures for land development and mid-rise to ensure timely month-end close, maintenance of internal controls, and adhere to best practices
- Providing coverage for other Accounting roles as necessary
- Other responsibilities as assigned
What do you bring to this role?
- A post-secondary education in Accounting or Business
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience with full-cycle accounting, or within project accounting
- Experience with Sage 300 CRE, Caseware, and land development/construction accounting considered an asset
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Understanding of and direct experience with key ASPE principles (e.g., revenue recognition, capitalization, etc.)
- Experience preparing year-end working papers
- Understanding of key corporate tax principles (e.g., installments, deadlines, deductibility of expenses, capital gains)
- Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to work with multiple deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
