Accounting Clerk

Located in St. Catharines, Ontario, the Company is looking for a full-time Accounting Clerk. This is an in-office, Monday to Friday position.
The Accounting Clerk plays a crucial role in maintaining financial records for NatureKast. The Accounting Clerk ensures accuracy and compliance with financial regulations while supporting the overall financial operations of the company. Additionally, the Accounting Clerk may also handle administrative duties related to finance, such as filing documents and responding to inquiries from clients or vendors.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage accounts payable functions, including reviewing and processing invoices and PO matching.
- Manage accounts receivable functions, including invoicing customers and deposits, processing payments, and managing account collections.
- Prepare monthly financial statements, including preparation of month-end journal entries and supporting schedules, accurately and in a timely manner.
- Prepare all government filings as required (i.e. CRA, EHT, WSIB, etc.).
- Reconcile customer accounts and resolve discrepancies.
- Reconcile and prepare payments of credit cards and expense reports.
- Managing bank deposits, including preparing deposit slips, reconciling deposit amounts, and ensuring timely deposit of funds.
- Process credit applications.
- Prepare reconciliations for all bank accounts and other balance sheet G/L accounts
- Develop process guides for areas of responsibilities.
- Follow accounting procedures and policies to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Use accounting software and spreadsheets proficiently to perform tasks efficiently.
- Record and manage fixed assets, including tracking acquisitions, disposals, and depreciation.
- Calculate and record depreciation expenses accurately and in compliance with accounting standards.
- Collaborate with internal and external contacts to achieve departmental objectives.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience in an accounting/bookkeeping role
- Post-secondary education with a focus in accounting
- Intermediate understanding of computers and computer systems
- Working knowledge of accounting software (Sage Intact and Avalara) is considered an asset
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while adhering to deadlines and procedures
- Stress management skills to cope with occasional high workloads and deadlines
- Capacity to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload effectively
- Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
