Here’s the opportunity: Program Specialist, Indigenous Entrepreneur Startup Program
The Program Specialist, Indigenous Entrepreneur Startup Program plans, coordinates, implements and assesses the delivery of Indigenous-focused Futurpreneur programming, and proactively contributes to its continuous improvements. The incumbent will excel in working collaboratively with different stakeholders to co-design new and existing content, using their knowledge of the challenges and opportunities faced by young Indigenous entrepreneurs and effectively lead project coordination.
Reporting to the Director, Entrepreneurship Programs and a dotted line to the Head of DEI and Director, Indigenous & Northern Entrepreneurs this role requires frequent cross-departmental coordination, specifically working closely with the Indigenous Entrepreneur Startup Program team, Partnerships and Marketing / Communications, as well as liaising with other internal and external contributors to achieve programmatic goals.
This is a permanent, full-time position that can be located anywhere in Canada. Depending on the location, the incumbent will be working on our hybrid work model (minimum 2 days in the office per week). This role may require frequent travel.
What you will do:
Lead in the content creation and implementation of new Futurpreneur Programs/initiatives, with a focus on Indigenous programming (60%)
- In collaboration with Indigenous organizations, partners, and communities, co-design, and co-deliver Futurpreneur’ s Indigenous Entrepreneur-focused training programs
- Collaborate with the Program Resources Coordinator to develop relevant Indigenous entrepreneurial content (PDFs, videos, blogs, etc.).
- Facilitate in-person and digital workshops with organizations, partners and individuals to better understand the support needed by Indigenous entrepreneurs to start and succeed.
- Plan and schedule events, coordinate production, manage timelines, monitor quality, track workshop attendance, and other KPIs, when needed.
- Collect feedback from workshop participants and other stakeholders, document findings and make recommendations on program improvements.
- Identify and assist in tracking key measurement and evaluation metrics.
- Lead in the development of training material: including presentations, activity books, and any other identified resources and tools needed. Complete programs-specific reporting to funders on a quarterly and annual basis
- Collaborate with and support the Indigenous Marketing and Communications team for program-related internal and external communications.
- Lead in creation of resources for gathering quantitative and qualitative data to validate new ideas.
- Lead in Indigenous programming, webinars, bootcamps, and in person workshops to entrepreneurs, educating on business financial resiliency, essentials of a business plan and cashflow; key elements of a business launching process (idea stage to business plan completion)
- Deliver programming, webinars, boot camps, workshops to entrepreneurs educating on essentials of a business plan; key elements of a business launching process (idea stage to business plan completion and process for IESP)
- Process map and develop training materials for IESP team where needed.
Support the coordination and implementation of current Futurpreneur programs/initiatives (20%)
- Schedule events, coordinate production, manage timelines, monitor quality, track workshop attendance, and other KPIs, when needed.
- Coordinate, implement and report on the delivery of ongoing Futurpreneur Canada programs/initiatives
- Collect and review data to report on key performance measurements, including impact measures, and outcomes of ongoing IESP related programs, or other where relevant.
- Support the collection and interpretation of user experience and client satisfaction metrics
- Support the identification of gaps and make relevant recommendations to evolve and adapt existing IESP offerings or other, where relevant
- Plan and coordinate the implementation of the improvements for IESP programming and other, where relevant
- Collaborate with Data & Insights Specialist to review data on current trends in the entrepreneurial ecosystem to better enhance our understanding of critical client dynamics, thereby enabling us to more effectively engage, empower, and equip our Indigenous Young Entrepreneurs for success
- Assist and make relevant recommendations gathering information about competing programs, trends and best practices.
General Program delivery support (20%)
- Attend program-related events that provide the opportunity to engage formal community partners, to establish relationships with entrepreneurial ecosystems & Indigenous communities.
- Identify potential partners through research, events, networking and referrals.
- Oversight and input into the budget / expenses in relation to IESP programming and other, when relevant
- Stakeholder engagement to facilitate operationalization of new programs and projects
- Participate in team planning and brainstorming discussions.
- Support team in gathering quantitative and qualitative data to validate new ideas.
- Support the team in creating forward-looking roadmaps of all programs.
What you will have:
- Relevant experience may include education with a focus in Business Administration, Arts, or related field or equivalent hands-on career experience
- 2-4 years’ experience in project management and coordination
- Strong network and sense of purpose, entrepreneurial mentality and/or lived experience working with Indigenous Entrepreneurs and community organizations
- Strong project coordination skills required
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and be on time and on budget
- Knowledge of Indigenous small business sector and ecosystem in Canada will be an asset
- Experience working with entrepreneurs and volunteers preferred
- Demonstrated problem solving skills
- Ability to work effectively with different and multiple stakeholders
- Ability to approach Indigenous communities with empathy and understanding
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the challenges and opportunities faced by young Indigenous entrepreneurs and Indigenous-led and Indigenous-focused community organizations
- Public sector experience is an asset
- Experience with CRM and project management tools required
- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
- Bilingualism in French & English (spoken & written) – an asset
- Mastery of Microsoft Office
