
Junior Safety Coordinator

The Junior Safety Coordinator will work in person out of our Stoney Creek office location, Monday to Friday. Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager, the Junior Safety Coordinator will assist with inspections, compliance audits, training sessions, and incident reporting to promote a safe and regulatory-compliant work environment. This role is a net new addition to the DeFaveri team!

What You’ll Be Doing:
- Assist with routine site safety inspections, audits, and investigations to identify potential hazards.
- Assist with the Ontario Certificate of Recognition (COR) 2020 Audit Program by gathering required documentation, ensuring compliance with audit criteria, and assisting with continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist with the WSIB Health and Safety Excellence Program (HSEP).
- Work closely with management and employees to facilitate timely return-to-work plans, track accommodations, and ensure compliance with WSIB requirements and company policies.
- Conduct ongoing follow-ups with employees to ensure the completion of daily and weekly safety deliverables, adherence to safety protocols, and immediate corrective action when necessary.
- Lead onboarding sessions for both field and office employees, ensuring they receive thorough training on safety policies, procedures, and company expectations.
- Regularly review and update Health and Safety forms, ensuring compliance with current regulations and company policies.
- Maintain an inventory of safety equipment, coordinate necessary inspections and servicing, and ensure all maintenance records are up to date.
- Deliver specific safety talks in response to past incidents, ensuring employees are informed about preventive measures and corrective actions.
- Track and review subcontractor safety documents, follow up on missing or outdated information and ensure compliance with project-specific safety requirements.
- Prepare and maintain up-to-date Safety Boards for all Projects.
- Organize mandatory training for employees, and maintain up-to-date training records to ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Remain informed on current and upcoming industry “best practices” and legislative requirements.
- Other related duties as assigned.
What You Will Bring:
- Minimum of one (1) to two (2) years of Health and Safety experience in the construction sector
- Experience with Ontario Certificate of Recognition (COR)
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid G-Class Drivers License
- Experience with the WSIB Excellence Program
- Experience with the WSIB Claims Management is considered an asset
- Strong abilities within Microsoft Office
- Must be willing to work in the office or on-site, as required
- High attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
- The ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with internal and external parties
- The ability to manage multiple tasks/projects in a deadline-driven environment
